CHURCHES-CORPORATE MONEY MAKERS OR REAL HOUSES OF GOD?

This has always been hard for me to understand because if God created the entire universe it is hard for me to believe as many preachers, pastors, and priest say that their church is the house of God.

Where did Christ preach? I will tell you all along the roadsides-in villages- on mountain sides and mountain tops along the seas on the sea shore.

Now, this goes along with tithing. I once had a brief conversation with a very powerful preacher. I asked him this question. “Where does my tithing do the best? If I give the church 10% and the church goes out a buys another hymnal, pays a salary to the assistant choir director, buys another picture or stained glass window or If I take the 10% and go to a homeless, deserving family who is hungry and poor and bought them food, or help pay their gas or electric bill, or help them with a medical bill. Where has my tithing done the best?

He was befuddled and stuttered as he said well of course the second example. Case closed. Well, then why can’t all the churches ban together come together as Christ described and help all those in need? Excuse me but is this the correct way for Christianity to be? Think of the millions of dollars that could go helping the sick, afflicted, the poor.

Can anyone tell me how much money or salary was or Christ had or was paid- How about Peter, Paul, James, John etc.?

I know just in the city of Memphis, you could go around the corner and there be another Baptist Church, Presbyterian Church, Methodist, or Catholic. Most of the churches do not even fill all the pews why can’t they join another branch saving mortgage payments, pastor salaries, electrical bills, phone bills, office expenses, etc.

I personally feel like if I am going to pay any money to people who spread the word and work for the goodwill of man-I would say I would rather donate my tithing to the missionaries all those who go out into the world to help mankind with their work and not merely by their word.

I know that this could work because at Easter I have attended and seen where all religions banned together and rented a stadium, forum, or coliseum and came together in worship service.

Also, one belief of the early Christians was that there was no need for a church or leader to be paid to spread the gospel. Sorry guys, now I guess you will jump out there and try to smear me. Go ahead for Jesus, once said, “If you believe in me- Come with me leave everything behind do not turn back and follow me.”

I am not about condemning churches I am just saying or thinking would it make sense?

Also, as far as some man made building being the house of God- I cannot recollect any of the early prophets who experienced visions of God as being in the house of God. Abraham, Moses, or John all experienced visions - a burning bush for example- all were out in the open nature?

Maybe I am wrong but that’s my opinion and you have yours. All I know that by combining all religious man made buildings and channeling all the money would certainly help out our fellow man and is that what Christianity is supposed to be all about.

I am not trying to attack any one church or religion-I am just thinking out aloud.
Where is Christianity best served?

In the real world or in a man made brick building?

How about you?
